Soap Making Conference – What to Expect as an Attendee

Zakia Ringgold at the 2019 Soap Conference

Are you considering attending a Soap Making Conference?

Here is a video of my experience at the Annual Soap Conference.

It’s that time of year where conferences are in full swing and that’s definitely the case for Soap Makers. The Handcrafted Soap and Cosmetic Guild held the annual 2019 conference in Dallas Texas. You are wondering why should you go to a soap conference? OR What can you expect as an attendee? Fortunately I have attended for the past three years and I can tell you the experiences just keep getting better and better.

Three Reasons to Attend the Annual Soap Making Conference:

  • Networking with other soap makers and vendors
  • Ongoing Education with industry and business experts
  • Sparks for your creativity to apply in your own business

Networking at Conferences

Electra Press Booth at HSCG Annual ConferenceIn terms of networking, you are surrounded by over 500 people who don’t mind talking handcrafted bath and body for four days…non-stop. I don’t know about you, but my family generally only obliges me for a few hours or a day MAXIMUM. Unlike  the conference where you are given cart blanche to talk soap, lotions, potions and more until you are blue in the face.

You also get a chance to meet the primary vendors in our industry. You can ask them questions, sample their products, try out their equipment, place bulk orders and get recommendations. Being a handcrafted business owner can get lonely. The conference is a great way to meet new people, develop relationships with vendors and even form life long friendships.

Hands On Sessions at Soap ConferenceOngoing Education to further enhance your skills

No matter how new or seasoned you are with the craft of soap and cosmetic making there is always something new to learn. Regulations change, New Ingredients are introduced, New Equipment becomes available, you simply can’t learn all of this working at home by yourself. Besides it’s so much more fun with people who love the craft just as much as you do. If you are serious about your business you need to find a place to continue your education.

Spark your Creativity in your BUSINESS

This year’s conference had something for everyone makers, business and advanced topics. For me I appreciated the insight on improving productivity and profitability. One of my favorite sessions discussed the customer experience in a retail store.

My Experience as an Attendee, Exhibitor and Speaker

Zakia at HSCG Soap ConferenceThis year I was extremely fortunate! I was one of the featured speakers and my topic was Live Streaming and Chatbots for your business. If you are new to live streaming and would like to register for the upcoming 2 day workshop you can do so here. Attendees in my session also got a chance to see chatbots in action you can give it a try here. The conference even sold my books.

What I’m truly grateful for is getting a chance to give back to the soaping community in the form of my knowledge and experiences. The icing on the cake was having my mom and daughter there to cheer me on from the audience.

Were you there? Will you be attending next year? Let me know in the comments.

Until next time…
